Career Development Program Manager

What is a Program Manager

Working closely with the Executive Director, the Career Development Manager will manage the career development components of ABN’s programs and services. In collaboration with the team, the Manager will deliver innovative programs and services to support skilled immigrants’ career development efforts.

Career Development Manager needs to be accountable and results-focused, and demonstrate experience with career development resources and program management. A bachelor’s degree and previous experience working with immigrants/refugees are required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the career development components in the ABN’s programs, including the Fellowship, Career advising services, and Mentoring program
  • Manage the end-to-end process for the Immigrant Professionals Fellowship program
  • Train and coordinate volunteers who work as career advisors
  • Provide direct career development support to clients when needed
  • Contribute to new programs and service development to support the organization’s strategic direction
  • Engage service providers, employer partners, and other stakeholders to ensure that ABN’s programs and services meet a need and contribute to its client’s success
  • Prepare and write reports for funders and provide program-related information and data for marketing, outreach, and community partner communication
  • Assist with coordinating volunteers and staff with a diverse array of responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree and experience working with immigrants/refugees
  • Knowledge of career coaching tools and strategies
  • Competency in using technology as a program management and reporting tool
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience in marketing and outreach desired
  • Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Additional Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and experience in workforce development/career coaching/recruiting/ field preferred 
  • Experience in managing multiple programs and developing new programs preferred
  • Experience with staff/volunteer training and supervision preferred 
  • A strong capacity to interact and work in a collaborative team environment and maintain harmonious working relationships is preferred 
  • As a public-facing team member, exhibit a professional demeanor with strong customer service skills  

Working Conditions

This is a full-time hybrid position, the Career Development Manager is expected to meet with the team in person once a week, meet with clients, and occasionally attend evening and Saturday events. Benefits are included with this position.
