Immigrant Professionals Fellowship
African Bridge Network (ABN) announces a Program Management (PM) track of its Immigrant Professionals Fellowship, which will be hosted at World Education Services (WES). This track offers four (4) immigrant professionals an opportunity to leverage their international education and professional backgrounds to gain invaluable U.S. work experience towards establish fulfilling careers in Massachusetts and New York.
Nature of the Fellowship
The PM track of the fellowship seeks to place four (4) immigrant professionals in program management roles within WES. Through the fellowship program, which includes six-weeks workforce readiness training and four-months of work placement, participants will gain needed work experience and career development support to advance their careers. After the six-week training, the fellows will be placed in a paid four (4) month fellowship, where they will work remotely alongside WES staff, who are also working remotely, spanning locations in the U.S. Fellows near WES’s New York office will have the flexibility to work either in the office or from home. The fellowship requires a commitment of 30 hours per week.
Fellowship Details
This paid four-month work placement program aims to engage skilled immigrants residing in Massachusetts and New York:
- Six (6) weeks of U.S workforce readiness training prior to placement (virtual)
- Paid (4) month work placement with WES
- Work placement is virtual for Massachusetts fellow(s) and a hybrid work option is available for New York fellow(s)
- Fellows expected to work 30 hours per week for $30/hour
- Fellows will receive career development support during and after their work placement
Program Management Tracks
Working under the direction of the Resource and Content Development Manager, the fellow will be responsible for researching and vetting U.S. based immigrant and refugee serving programs and services, supporting the coordination of nationally developed resources, conducting stakeholder engagement, and providing technical setup and support for national online events and webinars. Working under the direction of the Policy Analyst, the fellow will be responsible for conducting research to determine the impacts of new policies, drafting materials and resources for policy review, fact-checking materials and resources before publication, and supporting advocacy work. Working under the direction of the Program Manager, the selected fellow will support departmental effectiveness and efficiency efforts through program coordination, administrative coordination, program evaluation and reporting, and systems support with WES. Learn more about the position here.
Working under the direction of the Senior Program Manager, the selected fellow will be responsible for supporting knowledge management, researching learning and collaborative platforms for team use, and supporting program event planning. Learn more about the position here.
Qualifications
Selected candidates must provide proof of the following:
- Have been residing in the U.S. for five years or less.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or at least two years of equivalent work experience.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (this program does not sponsor visas).
- Advanced English Language Proficiency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and webinar/meeting platforms (Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
Requirements
- Strong communication (written and oral) skills.
- Proficient interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Effective planning, organizational, and implementation abilities.
- Research and analytical skills.
- Commitment of 1-2 hours per week for six (6) weeks for workplace readiness training in advance of the fellowship
- Professional presence and the ability to represent WES at events and with stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a remote or hybrid work environment.
2024 Cohort Information Session
Timeline
The application period opens in December. Applications are due by December 31st, 2023
Successful applicants will go through screenings and interviews in January 2024.
All successful candidates receive virtual U.S. workplace readiness training in February 2024.
Placement with a host (WES) begins in March 2024 and ends in July 2024.
