Peter was born and raised in Ghana, where he stayed until two years ago. While in Ghana, Peter received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He was working as a Senior Medical Officer before he decided to relocate to the US to pursue a Master’s in Public Health.

Once moving to Massachusetts and receiving his Master’s in Public Health, Peter started making strides to re-establish himself in the medical field.

He worked briefly as a pharmacy technician before deciding to take a break to focus on his passion: entering a residency training program to practice medicine in the US. He is making strides in this area and has already completed interviews for residency programs. He even states that the interview preparation in the Fellowship has helped him in the residency interviews.

“The guidance has been spot on”.

Peter has been involved with ABN for longer than the Fellowship. He attended an ABN workshop earlier this year, where he had the chance to speak with team members who encouraged him to apply for the Fellowship. He has now been placed in Boston Medical Center’s Internal Medicine department. Peter states,

“We really appreciate the work that ABN is doing. It is difficult to transition from our previous backgrounds to the US. Even with our qualifications, we still need a push.”
