Anas is a healthcare professional from Morocco, with both a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Healthcare Management. Upon completing his education, he worked as a Practice Manager for six months before making the life-changing decision to relocate to the US. Anas worked as a substitute teacher and a case manager when he first moved to the US, but had a strong desire to return to a career in healthcare.

In 2023, he applied to be a part of the 2023 cohort of the Fellowship. Although he was not accepted into this cohort, he did not give up and continued to work with ABN by attending Orientation Workshops and applying for career advising. He was determined to get back to work in a hospital setting and practice what he went to school for. This determination led him to reapply for the 2024 cohort, where he was accepted and placed at Boston Medical Center in the Community Engagement department.

Anas has always been passionate about research and science, which was elevated even more when he came to the US and saw so many opportunities. But he needed to learn how a US research setting worked, which is where the Fellowship was crucial, “I learned a lot from the ABN fellowship itself and the classes at Emmanuel College”. The training and work experience that Anas received through the Fellowship was extremely valuable in rebuilding his career.

After completing his Fellowship, Anas was offered a full-time role as an Office Coordinator in Clinical Research at Boston Medical Center, where he says he is continuing to learn every single day, “The Fellowship is a great experience where I had the chance to learn from a lot of successful leaders”.

Anas thanks all of the employers involved in the Fellowship for the opportunities that have given the skilled immigrant community. He advises those who are interested in the Fellowship to be open to the opportunity, trust the process, and follow your dream until the end. His story and dedication are a perfect example of trusting the process. Anas wants to continue to help future ABN fellows achieve their goals, saying, “The skilled immigrants just need that push”.
